INFOSHEET DEUTSCH“reworks” ist das neue paul kalkbrenner-album. es ist allerdings kein normales artist-album, sondern ein projekt, das paul schon seit über einem jahr geplant hatte. er bat einige seiner freunde, die er auch musikalisch sehr schätzt, um remixe. paul öffnete sein schatzkästchen, und jeder durfte sich seinen lieblingstrack rausnehmen und damit rumspielen. heraus gekommen ist eine wunderbare remix-platte, die nicht nur mit die besten tracks von paul in neuem glanz erstrahlen lässt, sondern auch den erfahrenen remixern von a wie agoria bis m wie modeselektor viel spaß bereitet hat!
michael mayer, der kompakt-veteran, kommt zunächst einmal flüsternd einher. ein einziger akkord reicht dann allerdings bei ihm aus, um endorphine frei zu setzen. wie ein schiffshorn, dessen klang sich durch den nebel kämpft und am ende strahlendes licht schafft.
sascha funkes “miles away” kommt im gegenzug gleich mit markanten beats zur sache. dazu eine mitsing-melodie eines reverb-synth, die sich gegen ende hin melodisch zu einem euphorischen höhepunkt aufschwingt.
die wighnomy brothers lassen uns seicht, aber nichts desto trotz spannend in ihre version von “steinbeisser” einsteigen. ihr fast gänzlich auf beats verzichtender remix ist ganz musik à la wighnomy brothers: sphärische flächen und kleine, feine, klickernde sounds, in dessen geflecht sich ab und an krude sounds wie in eine meereswoge hinein werfen.

INFOSHEET ENGLISH“reworks” is the new album of paul kalkbrenner that will enlighten us in october. it’s not a regular artist album but a project that paul has been planning for a year now. he asked some of his friends, whom he also very much appreciates musically, for remixes. paul opened his treasure box and everyone could pick the track he/she likes most and play around with it. the result is a wonderful remix album that not only gives a new touch to some of kalkbrenner’s greatest tracks, but was fun work for the experienced remixers from a like agoria to m like modeselektor as well!
michael mayer, the kompakt veteran, comes as the whispering intro, but soon enough unfolds as a dance track of first quality. one chord only is enough to set free all those happy happy-hormones that make you dance at the club or to your turntables. like a horn of a ship it cuts through the fog and brings us the light.
sascha funke’s “miles away” on the opposite gets down to business right away - striking beats and a sing-along melody of a reverb synth that - towards the end - builds up to an upbeat peak.
wighnomy brothers introduce us to their version of “steinbeisser” smoothly, but in an exciting way. they did their remix without almost any beats at all and only concentrated on sounds in the typical wighnomy brothers style. spheric facets and little clicking sounds, in which now and then crude sounds are thrown into - like stones you let jump on the surface of the sea. |
