INFOSHEET DEUTSCHwie deutschlands erste bundeskanzlerin angela merkel über ihren wahlsieg, freuen sich modeselektor darüber, wie gut ihre erste langspielplatte "hello mom" bei den fans angekommen ist. sie wollen "den plattenkäufern dienen", heißt es. das tun sie in staatsmännischer pose, indem sie reformatorische remixe für alle vocal-stücke von ihrem album in auftrag geben, die von einer großen koalition aus sleeparchive, siriusmo, dabrye und xxxx mehrheitsfähig durchgepaukt werden.
der mysteriöse wahl-düsseldorfer sleeparchive verbannt die vocals der französischen rapper von ttc vom "dancingbox"-original ins stumme exil und baut stattdessen einen massiv tönenden rohbau für open-mic- und dj-experimente aller art – eine pulsierende blutspende für vitalarme clubs.
siriusmo ist nicht nur maler, illustrator und grafiker, sondern auch der größte stevie wonder fan berlins und kann schon deshalb nicht völlig daneben liegen mit seinem souverän sympathischen elektro-funk-remix auf karma-basis. "silikon", mit der stimme von sasha perera (jahcoozi), macht hier sogar als sitztanz spaß im sinne von "hello grandmum, deine lila minipli sieht fast so gut aus wie meine musik sich anhört, das hab ich bestimmt von dir".
dabrye hat ja mal ein jahr in modeselektors bude in berlin gewohnt und soll dabei die wände schalldicht geharzt haben, wofür sein remix von "fake emotions" mit dem weisen tikiman paul st. hillaire als beweis dienen soll. erschütternd tiefe bässe leuchten hier ein kellergeschoss nach jamaikanischem vorbild gedämpft aus.
das stück: ein silikon-remix. grime wird nie wieder so sein wie früher, nicht nach diesem track. weil dahinter die vielleicht "größten grimeproduzenten unterm crack- und wummen-himmel" stehen, und was da pumpt ist nicht die pumpgun, sondern die irreversible penetration des trommelfells, was einer gut gemachten vergewaltigung gleich kommt, bei der es nur täter, jedoch keine opfer gibt. wer sich wirklich hinter diesem fantastischen testbild-techno-track tarnt, darf nicht verraten werden, nur so viel: wahrscheinlich sind es die beiden schimpansen gernot und basti von der band modeselektor, nur genau weiß man das nicht, weil damit hinterm berg gehalten wird. |

"we want to serve the record consumers", they say and do it in a statesmanlike pose by ordering reform oriented remixes of all their vocal tracks from the album, that are executed by a great coalition of mysterious artists like sleeparchive, siriusmo, dabrye and xxxx.
the cloak-and-dagger dude from dusseldorf, sleeparchive, bans all the vocals by french rappers ttc from the original "dancingbox" into a silent exile and builds a massive sounding carcass for open-mic and dj experiments of all kind instead – it's like a pulsing blood donation for meager clubs.
siriusmo is not only a painter, illustrator and graphic designer, but also berlin’s biggest stevie wonder fan, and this alone should qualify him for his convincing and appealing electro funk remix on a kahrma basis. "silikon", with the voice of sasha perera (jahcoozi), is big fun even as a sitting dance, like "hello grandmum, your purple perm looks almost as good as my music sounds, it's in the genes".
dabrye lived in modeselektor’s apartment in berlin for a year or so and is supposed to have weed-resinated its walls until soundproofed - his remix of "fake emotions" with the wise tikiman paul st. hillaire serves as an evidence. concussively deep basses lit up a basement of jamaikan structural designs like amped periodic instruments.
the track: a silikon remix. grime will never be as it has been before, not after this piece! maybe that's because the "biggest grime producers under the crack'n gun ceiling" stand behind it, but what's pumpin’ is not a pumpgun but the irreversible penetration of the eardrum, which comes close to a well-done rape, where there are just perpetrators, but no victims. who is really behind this fantastic test-picture techno-track cannot be disclosed, just this: chances are that modeselektor’s very own chimps gernot and basti can be held responsible for that, but no one really knows, because everyone is beating about the bush. |
